Locked up but never locked down, this inmate finds freedom in the art he creates. He uses everyday items such as pillowcases and napkins as his canvas. Each piece takes him three weeks to finish, as he is restricted to working on them within a three-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week regimen. This means that 63 painstaking hours go into the creation of each of his drawings, and the amount of detail is incredible, especially considering that each drawing is done with nothing but a BIC pen. The images are as powerful as they are kind, as tantalizing as they are bittersweet. Nonetheless, they are compelling artifacts of a life that is physically confined by a cellblock but not restrained when it comes to the power of the mind and creativity.
