Malachite

Malachite

Malachite is usually found in large opaque green masses, copper being the cause for the coloring. It often crystallizes in the form of crusts, tufts, masses, or rosettes. But a few will also exhibit a drusy of small crystals of Malachite on the surface.  A stone with a characteristic bubbly look when cut, Malachite will present the beautiful alternating light and dark green layers. Most often the crystals are entirely too small for faceting, but larger specimens are carved in many way to reveal the banding to it’s best ability.
